Being in the zone
Effortless attention
The optimal experience
When hours pass without our noticing
Being completely involved in an activity for its own sake
An optimal state in which we feel totally engaged in an activity
When we’re neither bored nor anxious, and we don't question our own adequacy
The complete absorption in what we do, and a resulting transformation in our sense of time
When we focus our attention on realistic goals and when our skills match the challenges we face
A state of optimal experience arising from intense involvement in an activity that is enjoyable
The mental state in which when performing an activity we are fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity
When our skills are fully utilized yet equal to the demands of the task, intrinsic motivation is at a peak, we lose self-consciousness and temporal awareness, and have a sense of total control, effortlessness, and complete concentration on the immediate situation (the here and now)
