Restoration
Ceasing awakeness
A time-machine to breakfast
A period of reduced activity
Tired nature’s sweet restorer
The best restorer of the nervous system
The best bridge between despair and hope
A naturally recurring state of mind and body
A fountain of youth that we dive into every night
The golden chain that ties health and our bodies together
The state of reduced consciousness during which we rest in a daily rhythm
The folding together of leaflets or petals at night or in the absence of light
A regenerative process where we heal and where our neurons build strong connections
To take rest by a suspension of the voluntary exercise of the powers of the body and mind
When leaflets approach each other and flowers close and droop, or are covered by the folded leaves
Shutting off or reducing power to our peripherals in order to save energy during periods of inactivity
The natural state of rest in which our eyes are closed, our body is inactive, and our mind does not think
The natural rest or repose intended by the Creator to restore the powers of the body and mind, when exhausted or fatigued
To take the rest afforded by a suspension of voluntary bodily functions and the natural suspension, complete or partial, of consciousness
Energy restoration, metabolic regulation, thermoregulation, boosting immune system, detoxification, brain maturation, circuit reorganization, synaptic optimization, avoiding danger
That state in which the voluntary exertion of our mental and corporeal powers is suspended, and we rest unconscious of what passes around us, not affected by the ordinary impressions of external objects
A natural, regularly recurring condition of rest for the body and mind, during which the eyes are usually closed and there is little or no conscious thought or voluntary movement, only intermittent dreaming
Altered consciousness, relatively inhibited sensory activity, reduced muscle activity and inhibition of nearly all voluntary muscles during rapid eye movement (REM) sleep, and reduced interactions with surroundings
A condition of body and mind that typically recurs for several hours every night, in which the nervous system is relatively inactive, the eyes closed, the postural muscles relaxed, and consciousness practically suspended
A natural periodic state of rest for the mind and body, in which the eyes usually close and consciousness is completely or partially lost, so that there is a decrease in bodily movement and responsiveness to external stimuli
